Framed Prints From Historic England
Framed Print of Off-roading NKH01_01_0072
A six-wheeled car, possibly an early Morris Commercial 6x4, driving down a slope, observed by a large crowd of men many of whom are in military uniform, 1926 - 1929. Photographer: Norman Kingsley Harrison.
The date of this photograph is not known and nor is the event, though it seems likely it shows a demonstration of military vehicles. The car, a 6-wheeler or 6x4, appears to have continuous tracks ('caterpillar treads') on the rear wheels. The registration number is ML 8854, suggesting it was registered in Middlesex (N E London), possibly between Sep 1926 and Aug 1927.
