EDITORS COMMENTS
This image showcases a vintage Pig Weather Vane created by Salvatore Borrazzo in the 1930s. The weather vane, a fine example of American decorative arts from the 20th century, is a testament to the intricate craftsmanship and artistic vision of its creator. Measuring approximately 12 inches in length, this functional art piece was designed to indicate wind direction by rotating with the wind. Borrazzo, an accomplished metalworker, brought this whimsical concept to life through his mastery of metalwork. The pig's detailed features, including its curved snout, expressive eyes, and intricately textured hide, are rendered with remarkable precision in this graphite on paper scale drawing. The weather vane's design is both decorative and conceptual, reflecting the playful spirit of the era. Originally from the United States, this weather vane is a significant addition to any art collection or gallery. Its presence would add a touch of nostalgia and charm to any space, serving as a conversation starter and a reminder of the rich heritage of American art. The Pig Weather Vane is a unique and functional work of art, embodying the spirit of the 1930s and 1940s. It is an important contribution to the Index of American Design, providing a glimpse into the past and a reminder of the beauty and creativity that can be found in everyday objects.
