EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the artwork of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, specifically his masterpiece titled "Juno". Created in the mid-18th century, this particular print was produced in 1928 using pen with wash over pencil on white paper. The original painting is believed to have been part of the esteemed collection of Vicomte B d Hendecourt in London. Tiepolo, an Italian Venetian painter and printmaker, left a significant mark not only in Italy but also in Germany and Spain. His talent extended beyond traditional paintings as he was often commissioned to create frescoes for churches and palaces. In addition to large-scale works, Tiepolo's artistic repertoire included etchings and oil paintings. Renowned for his majestic style, Tiepolo is widely regarded as one of the most important artists of his time. This illustration from "The Drawings of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo" by Detlev Baron Von Hadeln offers a glimpse into his mastery. With Juno being depicted here, viewers can appreciate the artist's ability to capture both divine beauty and strength through intricate details. As we admire this monochrome representation of Juno, it serves as a reminder that art has no boundaries when it comes to expressing religious themes or celebrating powerful deities such as Hera herself.
