Framed Print of 100 years of the RAF

Pictured are two Hawker Hart light bombers of 39 Squadron at Miranshah on the North West Frontier, Pakistan in 1938.
The Hart was a two-seat day bomber that led to a wide family of related types and was also used as a test bed for many notable engines.
The Hart was an outstanding design, which gave rise to many variants. Developments included the Demon, Audax, Osprey, Nimrod, Hind, Hardy, Hartbees, Hector and Fury. These types are discussed separately.
The RAF used the Hart in both its original light bomber role and as the Hart Trainer, fitted with dual control and with all armament deleted. The Hart Trainer also featured reduced sweep of the upper wing to compensate for changes in centre of gravity when the military equipment was removed.
In addition, the Hart was used in a number of roles, with variants for communications, operation in India and tropical regions
*Some of these images have had some dodging and burning done and have been retouched to remove detritus and dust and scratch marks only*.
