Framed Print of 100 years of the RAF

A group of Air Transport Auxiliary women pilots photographed in their flying kit at Hatfield, Hertfordshire, on 10 January 1940.
During the years of the Second World War a short lived, but remarkable, organisation existed.
The Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) was a civilian service that was tasked with the delivery of aircraft from factories to the squadrons of the RAF and Royal Navy and the delivery of supplies. Featuring pilots exempt from wartime service due to health, age and gender they gained a reputation for being able to take anything to anywhere.
*Some of these images have had some dodging and burning done and have been retouched to remove detritus and dust and scratch marks only*. The British Army protects the United Kingdom's interests at home and abroad, providing a safe and secure environment in which all British citizens can live and prosper. © Crown copyright
