EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Laura Mexia titled "Beginning at the End" captures a moment of urban life in stunning detail. The image features a busy street scene with people going about their day, set against a backdrop of an escalator leading up to a wall.
The contrast between light and shadow creates a sense of depth and mystery, drawing the viewer into the scene. The monochrome palette adds to the timeless quality of the photograph, allowing us to focus on the shapes and textures within the composition.
The composition is dynamic and full of movement, with figures ascending the stairs and others walking along the street below. Each person seems lost in their own thoughts or purpose, creating a sense of isolation despite being surrounded by others.
The use of perspective is particularly striking in this piece, as it leads our eye from the foreground up towards the distant horizon. This creates a sense of journey or progression, echoing the title "Beginning at the End".
Overall, Laura Mexia's "Beginning at the End" is a powerful exploration of urban life and human connection. It invites us to reflect on our own place within bustling cityscapes and reminds us that every beginning holds an element of closure.
