EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a mesmerizing Traditional Japanese Woodblock, masterfully created by the renowned artist Kunisada (1786-1865). As one of Japan's most popular and successful print designers during his time, Kunisada's talent shines through in this exquisite piece. The artwork, dating back to 1840, is a treasured addition to my personal collection of original woodblock prints. The image transports us to a traditional Japanese room circa 1800, where three graceful women are depicted. Adorned in vibrant kimonos and surrounded by ornate furniture, their presence exudes elegance and beauty. A screen partition adds an element of privacy and intimacy to the scene. The artistry of this Oriental-style woodblock art is truly remarkable. Every detail has been meticulously captured through the intricate process of woodcut printing. The colors chosen enhance the overall aesthetic appeal while highlighting the natural beauty found within Japanese culture. This print offers a glimpse into domestic life during that era, showcasing both the architectural elements and furnishings characteristic of traditional Japanese homes. It also provides insight into the cultural significance placed on beauty and aesthetics in Japan. Bernard Allum's skillful photography beautifully captures every nuance of this stunning artwork from my private collection. Through his lens, we are able to appreciate not only the mastery behind Kunisada's work but also gain a deeper understanding of Japan's rich artistic heritage.
