Liquid crystal display grid. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the grid (orange) surrounding the pixels (rectangles) of a laptop computers liquid crystal display (LCD). The pixels are tiny areas of the computer screen. The grid supplies electric charge to the liquid crystals (grey) in each pixel. This changes the optical properties of the liquid crystals, which produces the changing colours on an LCD computer screen. A computer screen can have over 700, 000 pixels.
