Crowds of people have lined the street to watch the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary, pass by in their carriage on 15th July 1903 for the Benediction of the cathedral nave. The Royal train arrived at the station at Grampound Road and the Royal couple then travelled to Truro in an open carriage. They stayed at Tregothnan, St Michael Penkivel, during their visit.
