The Handley Page Halifax V, a four-engine heavy bomber, was pressed into service as a glider tug during World War Two, making it an essential component of the Glider Pilot Regiment in the Royal Air Force. The Airspeed Horsa, a British military glider, was designed to carry troops, supplies, and equipment behind enemy lines.
