EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the breathtaking beauty of Yorkshire Moors, captured in a stunning LNER poster from 1923-1947. Created by the talented artist Tom Purvis, this artwork was instrumental in promoting train services to this enchanting region. Purvis himself was a strong advocate for the professionalization of commercial art and played a significant role in establishing the Society of Industrial Artists. The image transports us to an idyllic scene within Yorkshire Moors, where nature's splendor unfolds before our eyes. The lush greenery stretches as far as the eye can see, with rolling hills that seem to touch the heavens. In the distance, Goathland emerges like a hidden gem nestled amidst this picturesque landscape. As we explore further into this masterpiece, our gaze is drawn towards Mallyan Sprout Waterfalls - a mesmerizing cascade that adds an ethereal touch to an already magical setting. Its crystal-clear waters glisten under rays of sunlight filtering through dense foliage. This poster not only captures the essence and allure of Yorkshire Moors but also serves as a testament to Purvis' artistic prowess and his dedication to elevating commercial artistry standards.
