Zealandia also known as S. S. Zealandia and nicknamed "Z"(or "Zed"

Zealandia also known as S.S. Zealandia and nicknamed " Z" (or " Zed" ) was a historically-significant 6, 683 ton multi-decked single-funnelled Australian cargo and passenger ship.
It entered service in 1910 and served as a troopship in both World War I and World War II. During 1940-41, Zealandia transported most of the ill-fated Australian 8th Division. Its crew were the last Allied personnel to see HMAS Sydney, which was lost with all hands in 1941. Zealandia itself was lost in the air raids on Darwin on February 19, 1942

Zealandia - A Symbol of Resilience and Sacrifice

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print captures the majestic presence of Zealandia, a historically significant cargo and passenger ship. Affectionately nicknamed "Z" or "Zed" this 6,683-ton vessel played a crucial role in both World War I and World War II. Built in 1910, Zealandia embarked on numerous voyages, serving as a troopship during times of conflict. It holds a poignant place in history for transporting the ill-fated Australian 8th Division during 1940-41. The crew members aboard Zealandia were the last Allied personnel to witness HMAS Sydney before its tragic loss with all hands in 1941. However, tragedy struck Zealandia itself during the devastating air raids on Darwin on February 19,1942. This once-mighty ship fell victim to destruction but left an indelible mark on maritime history. In this evocative image from Memory Lane Prints by Mirrorpix, we are transported back to an era defined by bravery and sacrifice. The sight of Zealandia's single funnel against the backdrop of vast marine expanse reminds us of the immense challenges faced during World War II. Let this print serve as a reminder of those who risked their lives at sea and pay homage to the enduring spirit that resides within our collective memory.
