EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph, the soothing waters of Yalova's hot water river flow gently through the picturesque landscape of Turkey. Nestled in the northwestern part of the country, along the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara, Yalova is the capital city of the Yalova Province and is renowned for its natural hot springs. Some of these springs are even radioactive, making them a unique and intriguing attraction for visitors from around the world. The history of Yalova's hot springs dates back to ancient times, with records indicating that they were already being used for therapeutic purposes during the Ottoman Empire. In fact, the Ottoman Turks were known for their love of bathing and the health benefits of mineral-rich waters. The image showcases a group of people enjoying the warm waters of the spring, immersing themselves in the healing properties of the water. The steam rises from the river, creating a mystical and serene atmosphere. The lush greenery and rolling hills in the background add to the idyllic setting. Yalova's connection to history is evident in the photograph, with the remnants of Ottoman architecture visible in the background. Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, made Yalova a province of Istanbul and lived there in his final years. In one of his speeches, he famously declared, "Yalova is my city." Today, visitors can still experience the rich history and culture of this beautiful region, while also enjoying the therapeutic benefits of the natural hot springs.
