The illustration is taken from the "Dictionnaire de Sciences Naturelles: Ornithologie" (Dictionary of Natural Sciences: Ornithology), published in Paris between 1816 and 1830. The work was directed by Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin and engraved by Massard, with the illustration itself being the creation of Jean Gabriel Pretre. Pretre was a painter of natural history at Empress Josephine's zoo and later became an artist at the Museum of Natural History in Paris.
