Appointed as the commander of the 2nd Division in the British Army, he played a pivotal role in several key battles, including the Battle of Alma and the Battle of Inkerman. Despite his military successes, Brown's tenure in the Crimea was not without controversy. He was criticized for his handling of the evacuation of Sevastopol, which some believed could have been executed more effectively.
