This stunning altarpiece, created by the renowned Catalan artist Pere Serra between 1393 and 1396, is housed in the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu in Manresa, Spain. Known as the Altarpiece of the Arrival or the Pentecost, this masterpiece of Gothic art is a testament to Serra's exceptional artistic skill. The central predella of the altarpiece features a powerful representation of the Entombment of Christ, with the Virgin Mary and other mourners gathered around the lifeless body of their beloved Savior. The intricate details of the figures' faces and the delicate folds of their robes are rendered with exquisite care, showcasing Serra's mastery of the tempera technique. Above the central predella, the main panel depicts the Arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The scene is filled with dynamic energy, as the Apostles are depicted with open mouths and outstretched arms, receiving the divine gift of the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire.
