Rebel Caisson Destroyed by Federal Shells at Fredericksburg" is a powerful and poignant image capturing the raw realities of the American Civil War. The caisson, a large wheeled cart used to transport ammunition, lies in ruins, its wheels shattered and its sides pierced by numerous Federal shells.
