Born on July 10, 1871, in Auteuil, near Paris, Proust is best known for his groundbreaking work "In Search of Lost Time" (also translated as "Remembrance of Things Past"), a monumental novel that revolutionized the literary world. At the time this image was taken, Proust had already spent years in seclusion, working tirelessly on his magnum opus.
