In this engraving from the 19th century, we find Pope Leo XIII (1810-1903), the Italian Pope who served from 1878 to 1903, during an audience at the Vatican. Born as Vincenzo Gioacchino Pecci, Leo XIII was a significant figure in the history of the Catholic Church, known for his progressive views and reforms. The image captures the pope seated on his throne, dressed in his papal robes and adorned with the triple tiara, a symbol of his ecclesiastical authority. Surrounding him is a group of clergy members and cardinals, all dressed in their respective vestments, attentively listening to the pontiff's words.
