Born in a remote village in the Russian Empire in 1898, Tsitsin's early life was marked by poverty and hardship. However, his insatiable curiosity and passion for agriculture led him to pursue an education in agronomy, despite the challenges of his impoverished background. In the 1920s, Tsitsin joined the Soviet agricultural research institute in Mikhailovka, where he dedicated himself to improving crop yields and developing new varieties of wheat and other grains.
