This handcoloured lithograph depicts two stunningly beautiful and distinctive tropical birds, the Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco) and the Ariel Toucan, also known as the Channel-billed Toucan (Ramphastos vitellinus). The image is taken from Th. Lejeune's Complete Works of Buffon, published in Brussels in 1837.
