This stunning hand-colored steel engraving depicts the Sentry Plant, scientifically known as Agave americana, also referred to as the Century Plant, Maguey, or American Aloe. The image is a meticulous reproduction of a botanical illustration by Edouard Maubert, skillfully engraved by Pierre. It was originally published as part of the comprehensive work "La Regne Vegetal: Flore Medicale" by Pierre Oscar Reveil, A. Dupuis, Fr. Gerard, and Francois Herincqs between 1864 and 1871. The Sentry Plant is a remarkable succulent native to Mexico and the southwestern United States.
