This evocative photograph captures the historic White Swan Public House in Holborn, London, as it looked prior to its demolition in July 2018. The image, taken from the left side, showcases the pub's distinctive red brick facade adorned with ornate white swan emblems. The White Swan, located at EC4A 1ES, was a cherished establishment in the Old Holborn area, known for its rich history and traditional British atmosphere. The White Swan's origins can be traced back to the late 19th century, when it was first established by the Hoare and Company Limited. Over the years, it became a beloved watering hole for locals and visitors alike, offering a warm and welcoming environment where stories were shared and friendships forged. Despite its popularity, the White Swan was ultimately unable to escape the relentless march of progress. In July 2018, the pub was demolished, making way for a new development. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the White Swan's storied past and the sense of community it once provided. The back of the print includes the address and historical information about the pub, making it an essential addition to any collection of London memorabilia or local history archive.
