This exquisite handcoloured lithograph captures the enchanting presence of French soprano Augustine Albert as she embodies the character of Amelie in the opera "Le Gant et l'Evénail" (The Glove and the Fan) at the Theatre du Vaudeville in Paris during the 1846 season. The production was based on the popular play by Adolphe d'Ennery and Eugène Scribe, and the role of Amelie was one of the most demanding and beloved soprano parts of the time.
