This handcoloured copperplate engraving by Andrea Bernieri, titled 'Ancient and Modern Costumes of all the Peoples of the World,' offers a fascinating glimpse into the military technology of Ancient China. In the foreground, Chinese soldiers are depicted wielding a shield (1), a bow and arrow (2), an axe (10), a helmet (12), and a lance (8, 9).
