This photograph print transports us back in time to Trafalgar Square in the mid-19th century, just after the installation of Nelson's Column in 1845. The historic landmark, a tribute to Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, stands proudly at its center, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the bustling square. The column, designed by British architects William and Thomas Cubitt, was erected to commemorate Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Despite the sense of accomplishment and triumph that the column evokes, we must wait nearly a quarter of a century before the iconic Landseer's lions are added to the base in 1867.
