This evocative photograph captures the enchanting presence of Marie Delna, the renowned French soprano, as she captivates her audience during a performance at the Opéra-Comique in Paris in 1932. Born Marie Ledan on August 18, 1875, in Toulouse, Delna's exceptional vocal abilities and magnetic stage presence quickly propelled her to the forefront of the classical music world. Delna's career began in the late 19th century, a time of great artistic and cultural transformation in France. She made her debut at the Opéra-Comique in 1898, singing the role of Micaela in Bizet's Carmen. Over the next several decades, she graced the stages of the most prestigious opera houses in Europe, including the Opéra Garnier and the Royal Opera House in London.
