Born in London on March 18, 1643, Strype dedicated his life to the meticulous study and documentation of English church history. His extensive research and publications significantly contributed to the historical understanding of the Church of England during the tumultuous seventeenth century. Strype's scholarly pursuits began at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1663 and his Master of Arts degree in 1666. Following his academic achievements, he was ordained as a deacon in the Church of England in 1667 and later became a priest in 1669. Strype's most notable work, "A Survey of the Popish Recusant's Estates," was published between 1675 and 1680.
