The Incas, a highly advanced civilization that flourished from approximately 1200 to 1533 AD, placed great importance on maintaining the purity of their royal bloodline. As a result, marriages were arranged within the royal family to ensure the continuation of their powerful lineage. The couple in this photograph, dressed in traditional Inca attire, exchange symbols of love and commitment.
