The scene unfolds in the royal chambers of Jeanne d'Albret, Queen of Navarre, who sits regally on her bed, surrounded by an entourage of courtiers. The room is filled with an air of anticipation and excitement, as the queen's confidantes look on with expectant gazes. Yet, amidst the throng of courtiers, two figures stand out for their apparent indifference to the historic moment. The jester, clad in motley attire and a jaunty cap, leans against the wall, his expression unreadable as he looks off into the distance.
