The archers are shown with their impressive yew longbows, which were renowned for their power and reach. These bows, unbent, could reach heights of a man, making them a formidable weapon in battle. The longbow was a symbol of English military prowess during this period, and the skilled archers could shoot arrows up to an impressive distance of 220 yards (approximately 201 meters). The use of longbows was a significant advantage for the English forces in the Hundred Years War against France and other conflicts during the late Middle Ages. Despite the impressive size and power of the longbows, they were not the only weapon in the English archer's arsenal. Crossbows, which required less physical strength to use, were also employed, particularly in siege warfare. However, the longbow remained the primary weapon of the English longbowman.
