Born in 1864, Doyle's footballing career spanned over two decades and saw him play for some of the most prominent teams of his time. Beginning his journey with East Stirlingshire in the 1880s, Doyle's talent soon caught the attention of Hibernian Football Club, where he made a name for himself as a formidable force on the pitch. In 1895, Doyle made the move to England, joining Sunderland, Grimsby Town, and Bolton Wanderers. His impressive performances earned him a place in the Everton team, where he spent several successful seasons.
