The image, taken from "Historical Costumes from the 12th to 15th Centuries" published by Levy Fils in Paris in 1861, showcases the Roman senator and governor in informal robes of the 14th century. Cansignorio is depicted wearing a ducal hat, a sign of his high rank, adorned with old brocade. The richness of his attire is further emphasized by the gold brocade cape, ermine trim, and a pink simar, a type of long, open robe, worn over his shoulders.
