This real print depicts Queen Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925), the beloved wife of King Edward VII (1841-1910) of the United Kingdom. Taken in the late 19th or early 20th century, the image captures the regal beauty and grace of the Danish-born queen, who became a beloved figure in British society during her long and devoted marriage to the monarch. Alexandra, who was born Princess Alexandra of Denmark on December 1, 1844, was the eldest daughter of Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein and Princess Louise Rasmussen-Levetzau. She married Prince Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales, in 1863, and became the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India upon her husband's accession to the throne in 1901. The queen is seen in the photograph wearing an elegant and ornate headdress adorned with pearls and feathers, as well as a flowing, curly hairstyle that was popular during the Victorian era.
