Umbria Perugia Todi SS. Annunziata, Duomo, this is my Italy, the italian country of visual history, Medieval core collection exterior and interior views of this 12th-16th century structure. Exterior photo coverage includes the three rose windows, architectural sculpture of the apse and nave walls, bell tower and a sculpted mans head in a roundel with an inscription. Views of the interior, restored in 1958, focus on the nave capitals c. 1270 which are largely Corinthianesque. Between the acanthus of some pier capitals are sculpted figures, including St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Michael, Christ, and the Virgin with the Holy Spirit, exterior views of the main rose window, portal sculpture c. 1520 and details of the wooden doors carved with bishops. Interior views include a large fresco of the Last Judgment by il Faenzone inspired by Michelangelos wood intarsia choirstalls a painted crucifix in the style of Cimabue late 13th century a gothic baptismal font marble statues an altarpiece from which only the Virgins head emerges three-dimensionally fresco fragments an altar painting of the Madonna and Child between St. Roch and St. Catherine and gravestones/sepulchral effigies.Photo 1983

As I gaze upon this image, I am transported to a land rich in visual history and immersed in the medieval essence that defines this 12th-16th century architectural masterpiece. The exterior view captures the grandeur of the duomo, with its three mesmerizing rose windows and intricate sculptural details adorning both the apse and nave walls. The imposing bell tower stands tall, while a roundel featuring a sculpted man's head intrigues with its mysterious inscription. Stepping inside, my eyes are drawn to the restored interior from 1958. The focus lies on the Corinthianesque nave capitals dating back to around 1270.
