The plate, numbered 25, is part of the renowned "Wapenhandelinghe van Roers Musquetten ende Spiessen" manual engraved by Jacques de Gheyn II. Measuring approximately 10 1/2 x 7 9/16 inches (267 x 192 cm), this second state engraving captures the essence of military drill and arms exercise during that era. Created in Antwerp by de Gheyn II, a prominent Netherlandish artist born in 1565 and based in The Hague, this artwork exemplifies his exceptional craftsmanship.
