Windrush Tower, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, Oxfordshire. The Mayor of Oxford, Alderman Lionel Harrison, cutting the tape at the ceremonial opening of Windrush Tower, a 15-storey block of flats in Blackbird Leys in Oxford.
Windrush Tower was ceremonially opened by the Mayor, Alderman Lionel Harrison, on 9th April 1962. The tower block contained 58 two-bedroom flats and two one-bedroom flats, and was celebrated as the highest domestic block of flats in Oxford at 155 feet. John Laing and Son Ltd simultaneously constructed a second 15-storey tower at the site called Evenlode Tower
