This extraordinary building was constructed in 1922-24 using timbers from HMS Hindustan and HMS Impregnable. It was a remarkable reaction to the early twentieth century vogue for stone dressed steel-framed buildings. Designed by Edwin T. Hall and E. Stanley Hall.
