While searching for the source of the Nile in the late 1860s he became seriously ill and went missing. In a moment of hope amidst uncertainty, Henry Morton Stanley finally located Livingstone in 1871. Although found alive, Livingstone never fully recovered from his ailment and tragically passed away in Bangwelulu, Zambia.
