This particular piece was part of a larger decorative work found in the renowned Raphael Rooms within the Palace of the Vatican. Raphael, an Italian High Renaissance painter and architect, left behind a remarkable legacy despite his untimely death at just 37 years old. Spending time both in Florence and Rome working for two Popes, he created numerous frescoes, oil paintings on religious and mythological themes, as well as portraits.
