In this evocative photograph, Coventry City Football Club's League Division One team gathers together at Highfield Road for their group photo call during the 1966-67 season. Manager Joe Mercer, dressed in a smart suit and tie, stands proudly in the second row, seventh from the left, surrounded by his talented squad of players. The team, known as "The Sky Blues" had finished a respectable 12th place in the previous season, and Mercer would lead them to an even better performance in the coming campaign. Mercer, a former player and manager of Celtic, had taken over the managerial role at Coventry City in 1965.
