In this photograph, the focus is on two midfield maestros locked in a tense battle during the 0:0 draw between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League, held at JJB Stadium on March 9,2008. The players in question are Alex Hleb of Arsenal and Wilson Palacios of Wigan Athletic. Alex Hleb, the Belarusian international, had joined Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2005 and quickly became a fan favorite with his skillful ball control, creativity, and ability to create scoring opportunities. In this image, Hleb is seen in his signature number 17 jersey, his eyes focused intently on the ball as he shields it from Palacios' advances. Wilson Palacios, a Honduran international, had joined Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2007 and proved to be a valuable addition to the team. Known for his tenacity, strength, and passing ability, Palacios was a force to be reckoned with in the midfield.
