DH-3990 - The Tongue-Twisting, Frog-Finding King Brown Snake!
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this print captured by Don Hadden, we witness the mesmerizing beauty of Australia's very own DH-3990, also known as the King Brown Snake or Mulga Snake. With its tongue playfully sticking out, this slithering superstar is on a mission to find some delicious frogs near a waterhole. Known for its wide distribution across most parts of Australia (except east and south coastal regions), this adventurous reptile can be found in various habitats like grasslands, open woodlands, mulga, and scrub. However, it prefers to stay away from wet rainforests – perhaps it doesn't want to ruin its sleek scales! When it comes to mealtime preferences, DH-3990 has quite an eclectic taste! From lizards and small snakes to frogs, birds, and even small mammals – nothing seems off the menu for this cunning predator. But wait! There's more! Did you know that DH-3990 lays around eight to 20 eggs without any maternal care? Talk about independent parenting goals! These little ones hatch after two or three months with no help from their snake mom or dad. After successfully scouring the waterhole for some froggy delights in Western Australia's Kimberley region near Mt Barnett along Gibb River Road; our daring snake friend decides it's time to retreat back into the comforting cover of adjacent grasslands. Goodbye waterhole
