This medal was awarded to Sergeant Arthur Anson Leather, 9th Company, 3rd Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, and trained as a mechanical engineer, Leather enlisted with the Imperial Yeomanry when he was 23 years old on 2 January 1900. He served at home until being posted out to South Africa on 28 January 1900 until 8 June 1901. He was discharged on 15 June 1901.
