5890697 The home of George and Florence Blumenthal, fifty East Seventieth Street, New York, 1920s (b/w photo) by Blumenthal, George (1858-1941); Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA; (add.info.: George Blumenthal was a financier, philanthropist and art collector. He was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and came to the United States in his youth. Blumenthal was a senior partner of Lazard FrA?res for twenty-one years until his retirement in 1925. He built a showplace mansion at 50 East 70th Street, on the southwest corner of Park Avenue, which was filled with his art collection and featured a large interior patio complex that was originally in the abandoned castle of VA©lez Blanco in Spain. The mansion was demolished after World War II and on the site was erected a 20-story apartment building, completed in 1949.); American, out of copyright
