Allegory of the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce between the States General of the United Netherlands and the United States of America, The Hague, 7 October 1782, Allegory of the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce between their Hoog Mogenden the States General of the United Netherlands and the United States of America, 1782. Three figures depicting on the right the Dutch virgin sitting on a barrel with the freedom hat on a lance and on the left the American virgin with a helmet with feathers, in his hand lance with medallions and a helmet and the cadeucus. The virgins shake hands. In the background a man with feathered headdress and bare torso dumping a cornucopia on the ground. Falling out of this lie Virginia tobacco rolls on the ground. Coming from a house at Nieuwe Haven 32a in Dordrecht, America represented allegorically, America (Ripa), Cornucopia, Horn of Plenty, personifications of countries, nations, states, districts, etc. (with NAME), Red Indians, American Indians, tobacco-roll, coiled twist of tobacco, Netherlands, United States of America, anonymous, 1782 - 1785, canvas, oil paint (paint), h 101.5 cm ? w 161 cm ? t 3.7 cm
