This historical image brings us back to the year 1794, during the French Revolutionary Wars, when the world was introduced to a groundbreaking innovation in warfare - the use of a manned airborne device for reconnaissance. The image depicts the "Entreprenant," a hot air balloon, which was employed by the French military for the first time in the Battle of Fleurus. The Entreprenant, a 25-meter high balloon, was piloted by Jean-Pierre Blanchard and Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier, two pioneering French inventors.
