This hauntingly beautiful image depicts the Crucifixion of St. Andrew, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. According to Christian tradition, St. Andrew was crucified on an X-shaped cross, which has become a symbol of his martyrdom. The crucifixion scene is set against a backdrop of a desolate and rocky landscape, with the sun setting in the distance, casting long shadows and creating an atmosphere of melancholy and contemplation. Andrew, dressed in simple robes and with a serene expression on his face, is nailed to the cross, his hands and feet secured by thick ropes.
