This evocative photograph captures the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver aircraft, registration C-FEYZ (msn 556), of Latham Island Airways, in flight against a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. The Beaver, a versatile and iconic bush plane, was renowned for its short takeoff and landing capabilities, making it an ideal choice for the rugged terrain and challenging conditions of the Canadian wilderness. The image, believed to have been taken around 1980, shows the Beaver in its element, with its large float landing gear submerged in the water. The aircraft's distinctive silhouette, with its high-mounted wings and tail, is a testament to de Havilland Canada's innovative design. Unfortunately, this particular Beaver met an unfortunate end on August 14, 1984, near Watson Lake, YT, when it was written off.
