June 1961: The Four Visionaries Confront the Virgin in Ecstasy - Maria Dolores, Conchita, Jacinta, and Maria-Cruz This powerful photograph captures a pivotal moment in the history of the Marian apparitions at Garabandal, a small village in northern Spain. The visionaries, four young girls - Maria Dolores, Conchita, Jacinta, and Maria-Cruz - are seen standing before the Virgin Mary, who is in the midst of an ecstatic state. The girls, aged between 11 and 13 years old, began experiencing mystical visions of the Virgin Mary in August 1961. These apparitions continued until November 1965, during which time the girls claimed to have received various messages from the Virgin, including predictions of future world events. In this photograph, taken during one of the apparitions in June 1961, the girls are seen confronting the Virgin in a state of awe and reverence. The Virgin's ecstatic expression and the girls' focused gaze convey the intensity and otherworldly nature of the experience. The apparitions at Garabandal gained widespread attention, attracting thousands of pilgrims from around the world. The Catholic Church has not officially endorsed the apparitions, but they continue to be a source of inspiration and devotion for many believers. This photograph is a testament to the profound spiritual experience that the visionaries underwent and the deep faith that they shared. It serves as a reminder of the enduring power of religious belief and the transcendent nature of the divine.
